What’s Up, Up There?
They are cutting and scraping and filling the joints with mortar in so many places around the Church. They are putting the tiles in place on the roof and beginning to work around the windows. Thankfully the work hasn’t been too complicated and mercifully we have not been as busy with funerals, allowing the crew eight hours of work. Thanks for your continued interest and support.

Considering Catholicism?
This past year we welcomed a large number of men and women into the Catholic Church through a process known as the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (“RCIA” for short.) If you, or someone you know might be interested in pursuing full membership in the Church, now is the time to contact us. RCIA is intended for adults in any of three categories: (1) those who have never been baptized; (2) those who are already baptized Christians of another denomination; and (3) baptized Catholics who have never had the opportunity to receive the Eucharist and Confirmation. If interested, please leave a message at the rectory for Terry Hubert.

Altar Flowers
The flowers on the Shrine of St. Joseph are in thanksgiving to St. Joseph.
The flowers on the Shrine of St. Anne are for the occasion of Elizabeth Anne Walsh’s 4th birthday.

Help Urgently Needed
We are currently assigning our students in our parish Christian formation program (religious education) into classes for the upcoming school year. It has come to our attention that we are in need of special needs catechists or teachers for some of the children in our program who might present some learning difficulties. We invite parishioners who have experience working with special needs children to consider teaching religious to some of these children whether on a one to one basis or in a small classroom setting. We are also in need of catechists and hall monitors for grades 2-8. If you can share an hour a week monitoring the hallways or teaching the faith to a small group of children, please call the OCF at 785-0130. Your assistance in this most important endeavor is very much needed and appreciated.

A Letter from the Pastor - July 25, 2004

My dear friends,

Sometimes we just need to smile and so the following is offered for a smile.

From the Little People who People our Pews:

It was Palm Sunday and because of a sore throat, five year old Johnny stayed home from Church with a baby sitter. When the family returned home, they were carrying palm branches. The boy asked what they were for of his older brother. His brother explained that people held them over Jesus’ head as he walked by. Little Johnny fumed – “Wouldn’t you know it, the one Sunday I don’t go and he showed up!”

Brian asked his grandma how old she was. Grandma replied “39 and holding.” Brian thought for a moment and asked – “And how old will you be when you let go.”

A little boy in Church for the first time watched as the ushers passed the basket around the pews noticing that people were putting money into it. He whispered to his Dad, “Don’t pay for me Daddy, I’m under five.”

The first grade teacher asked little Dorothy if she said prayers before eating her meal. The little girl replied, “No we don’t have to, my Mom is a good cook.”

“Oh, I sure am happy to see you,” the little boy said to his grandmother on his mother’s side. “Now maybe Daddy will do the trick he was promising us.” The grandmother very curious asked “And what trick is that?” The boy replied, “I heard him tell Mommy that he would climb the walls if you came to visit again.”

On Easter Sunday morning as the priest was giving a homily at the Family Mass, he reached into his bag of props and pulled out an egg. He pointed to the egg and ask the children – “What’s in here?” One little boy enthusiastically yelled – “I know, I know.” And Father said – “and what is inside”, he yelled out with satisfaction – “pantyhose.”

Enjoy the smiles!

God Love You,
-Father Peter

As I Prepare to Meet the Day

Let the dawn fall softly

On my shoulders, Lord,

As I prepare to meet the day,

Let the sunshine wrap

Its warmth ‘round me,

As I go along my way.

Let me feel Your presence near me,

As the gentle breezes play

Through blades of grass, and in the trees,

Causing leaves to sway.

Let me show some kindness

To each person that I meet,

Let me see Your Image

In each person that I greet.
