May 22, 2005

My dear friends,

Whether you are involved in parish work or school work, the months of May and June seem to be filled with activities. This past week was one of our busiest with the celebration of Confirmation on Wednesday and First Communions on each weekend. On Wednesday, Bishop William Murphy, who confirmed our 265 candidates for Confirmation, shared in a wonderful day of celebration for the parish. The youth and enthusiasm of our first communicants delights all who share in the day. Busy as this time of the year is, we all rejoice in the gifts that lead to these days of celebration.

Other things have helped make this a busy month. As you can see, the gardens have taken on new life as they were bedecked with the annuals for the summer. We have finally restored the Garden of Remembrance located between the Church and the Rectory and dedicated to those whose lives were lost on September 11th. It also looks like we will be facing some construction problems over the next few weeks as the town replaces curbs and sidewalks around our property. Storm drains are being replaced, some water concerns are being addressed, and hopefully some new sidewalks will be installed in the midst of all this. Please be patient as I am sure we will all be inconvenienced by this work.

Summer work projects are being outlined as maintenance of the parish facilities never ends. If there is any area you feel needs attention, please don’t hesitate to mention it to me. While I suspect it will be in our minds, with so many other eyes focused on our facilities, it is always helpful.

God Love You

-Father Peter
